In the vibrant city of Lucknow, U.P., our #SportForChange program is making waves in schools, especially among young girls whose passion for sport got channelised. One shining example is Roopa, whose journey is a testament to the transformative power of sport.
Roopa says the game of Kabaddi has changed her life and helped more children from her community to benefit through the magic of sport.

Access to play or sport offers a holistic impact on the development of an individual, whether one goes on to play professional sport or not. For children from marginalized communities for whom access to education is a challenge in itself, our #SportForChange program is trying to ensure that every child gets opportunities to play in school, enabling them to succeed within or beyond the field of sport. One such program running within a cluster of schools in Lucknow (U.P.) in partnership with HCL Foundation is the driving force behind kindling interest in the game of Kabaddi for Sarita. Sarita says Kabaddi has changed her life and that she aspires to become a sports trainer to help more and more children from her community to benefit through the magic of sport!
The primary purpose of this study is to measure the contribution of sporting activities to specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) within the context of the our #SportForChange program supported by HCL Foundation. The study used a cohort of 120 students (middle and high school students) as part of our program in schools from Noida and Lucknow. The study revealed that there is a positive correlation in engaging in sporting activities on the targeted SDG goals of students involved in the “Sport for Change” program.
Sportz Village Foundation (SVF) was established in 2017 with the focus of helping underprivileged students in public schools through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) collaborations.
